About the Journal

Aims and Scope

Language: The journal publishes cross-linguistic, interdisciplinary research on language, including theory, discourse, pragmatics, translation, media, indigenous languages, bilingualism, policy, corpus studies, teaching, testing, development communication, and related areas in the African context. The Journal also publishes articles of good quality on languages and linguistics, focusing on the core areas of theoretical and applied linguistics, including language and new media, documentation and description of indigenous languages, computational linguistics, and communication practices in development contexts within the context of East Africa.

Literature: The journal publishes articles focusing on orature, literary theory and social media platforms and issues on literary methodology and research. The journal welcomes articles that examine diverse histories, genres and literary traditions through interdisciplinary perspectives.

Communication: Articles in communication and journalism studies may address communication structures (policy, regulation, media types), forms (old and new technologies), and content (media texts). These can be examined theoretically – through existing or novel approaches such as social-behavioural, critical-cultural, meaning
